Prof. Christopher Lloyd (School of Economics,University of New England, Australia) esitelmöi tiistaina 18.4.2006 kello 17-19 aiheesta Evolutionary Theory and Economic History: A Partnership of Mutual Necessity?

Evolutionary theory in the social sciences, especially economics, has been revitalised in recent times by a new appreciation of the power and potential of neo-Darwinian theory. The application of biological theory to social science was long discredited but recent work in evolutionary and institutional economics and socio-biology have brought the debate back to life. Unfortunately, there is a dialogue of the deaf for theorists know little of history while historians know little of evolutionary theory, as Douglass North´s latest book reveals. They should be brought together. In this lecture I will discuss the mutual benefits of a new partnership and how that could be achieved.
