The Finnish Network of Qualitative Health Research
The network organizes multidisciplinary seminars and conferences on qualitative health research. In order to cover for the myriad of different interests of the participating researchers the main focus of the seminars has been on issues of theory and methodology in qualitative health research. In addition, the network organizes cooperation of several peer groups working on more specific areas of interest, such as 'narrative approaches to health issues' and 'the experiences of the chronically ill'.
The network was founded in 1995 to provide a forum where scholars from different disciplines interested in qualitative health research could get in touch with each other. The network provides for a possibility to develop cooperation and academic discussion. The fields of research represented by some 300 members of the network are: health sciences (public health, nursing, physiotherapy), social sciences (ia. sociology, social psychology, social policy), medicine, and humanities.
