Chapters of Ph.D. thesis

  • “Deposit insurance scheme (DIS) and banking crises: a special focus on less developed countries” (A logit estimation model is used to examine the impacts of different forms of DIS on banking crises. The impacts of the forms are also examined when the forms are interacted with countries’ economic development. The panel data used includes 150 countries for the period of 1980-2003).
  • “Central bank’s autonomy and banking crises” (The aim of this study is to examine whether the level of central bank (CB) autonomy influences the banking sector instability. Logit estimation model is used. The data includes CBs’ independence of 54 countries for the period of 1980-89.)
  • “Factors correlating with long-lasting banking crises: a special focus on crises resolution policy measures” (A duration estimation model is used in order to determine different factors of durations of banking crisis-spells. The panel data used includes both the developing and industrialized countries for the period of 1977 – 2003).
