The Statutes provide for the
European Sociological Association to be governed by an Executive Committee
whose selection reflects a balance between two constituencies: individual members
participating through the biannual conferences; and the national associations of Sociology whose representatives form a Council. We wish to avoid the bureaucracy of some larger
international associations and have direct input from individual members at the
conference, while recognising the importance of national associations in maintaining broad
representative links.
