Sociology of families and intimate livesThe website address of the Research Network on Sociology of Families and Intimate Lives is http://www.ics.ul.pt/esaIt has information on the members of the network, on the Interim Meeting which took place in March 2005 in Lisbon and the abtracts of the papers presented in the 7th ESA Conference. Call for papers for the seven sessions of the ESA Research Network "Sociology of Families and Intimate Lives" which the Coordinating team will be organizing during the 8th Conference of the European Sociological Association (Glasgow, 3-7 September 2007).
The
main aim of the network is to allow researchers working on family issues
to present and discuss their research findings and results. Rather than
suggest specific themes, we would like to encourage all those who have
on-going research projects to contribute to the sessions of the RN
Sociology of Families by sending us abstracts (for paper/poster
presentations) related to their current research interests, activities
and findings. The coordinating team will then organize the papers
according to the most important topics/themes that emerge.
However, if you are interested in organizing a session on a particular
theme in order to bring together researchers who are working on a
similar topic, do not hesitate to do so. For example, Elin Kvande and
Margaret O'Brien will be organizing a session on "Fathers and the
Reconciliation of Work and Family Life". If you want to build up a
session around a specific topic, please contact the researchers who
would be interested in participating and then let us know (by the 15th
December) what you are proposing to do and with whom.
Deadline: Abstracts should be sent by the 28th February 2007.
To submit your abstract, please use the online Abstract
Submission Form available from the Glasgow Conference website
on
www.esa8thconference.com . Decisions regarding the acceptance of
abstracts will be sent to you by the 15th of April 2007.
Please note:
a) that
the earlybird conference registration closes on the 31 May 2007;
b)
that the ESA Executive Committee has decided to separate fees for the
Association and fees for the Conference. This means that we all have to
register as members (each member will receive an ESA ID number) before
registering for the Conference. So don't forget to renew your ESA
membership (on the ESA website) as soon as possible.
Looking forward to hearing from you all,
with
best wishes,
Karin Wall
