Student Counselling Offered by Departments

If you need to consult someone on matters related to the content of studies or individual courses, you should turn to the teachers at the relevant department.

You will find information on the consultation hours of each teacher at the department websites.

Possible changes and additional information on courses and studies is usually best found at the web site of each Department.

Tutoring

In the beginning of studies, each international student of the Faculty is assigned a tutor and a tutoring group.

Tutors are elder students of the Faculty whose task is to help new students to get started with their studies.

Grants

In general, the University of Helsinki does not offer grants to foreign students. Here are a few links for students who are looking for alternative sources of funding.

For the moment, the University of Helsinki does not collect tuition fees. Each student is, however, required to pay the Student Union membership fee (74,65 Euros in 2008-2009, including limited health care services).

The fee is compulsory for all undergraduate students of the university.

The Faculty of Social Sciences offers travel grants for degree students of the Faculty who are preparing their Master's Thesis.
