Disability access to the Social Science Library |
Public transportation The address of the Social Science Library is Unioninkatu 35 (entrance from Yrjö-Koskisen katu at the corner of Unioninkatu 35). Several buslines and tramlines have stops near the library. The majority of buses are low-floor buses with wheelchair access and also some of the trams are low-floor trams. The Kaisaniemi metro stop is two blocks from the library. More detailed information on public transportation can be found on the webpages of Helsinki City Transport. Entrance to the building The entrance to the building is on Yrjö-Koskisen katu, just around the corner from Unioninkatu 35. There is a ramp on Yrjö-Koskisen katu by the entrance for access by wheel chair. There is a disability parking space on Yrjö-Koskisen katu near the entrance. The entrance to the Social Science Library is on the ground floor of the building. Locations and services The whole library is accessible by wheelchair and guidedogs are allowed everywhere. There is a toilet with wheelchair access outside the library in the lobby of the ground floor of the building . The library also has collections in the basement and a computer lab on the first floor - unfortunately these floors are only accessible by a locked elevator. The library assistants (09) 19122545 assist in using the elevator. The librarians working in the circulation desk area (09)19122547 also have keys to the elevator. The staff of the library are happy to assist both regarding the collections and other services. You can also email the libray at valt-kirjasto@helsinki.fi with your questions Remote access to electronic material Part of the library's electronic resources can only be accessed inside the Helsinki university network. Helsinki university staff and students can use this material outside the university by logging into the NELLI-portal or through remote access. |
