Online resources

Library users at the University of Helsinki have access to vast online resourcers, to reference and fulltext databases, e-books, encyclopedias and dictionaries and to thousands of electronic journals. All online materials can be accessed through the NELLI portal.

Through the first page, the 'Welcome to the Nelli portal' page portal users can find journals and databases or other electronic resources they know by name quickly and easily by writing the name or part of it in the appropiate box. In the menu there are links to the directories by which it is possible to browse databases by categories, by subjects or by resource types. In the quick links of the menu, you find links to the most frequently used resources.

University staff and students can access online resources from any computer linked to the university network. Staff and students can also access the same resources from a home PC outside the university network by logging into the NELLI portal or via the remote connection service.

Library users who do not have computer accounts at the University of Helsinki can access the online resources at the Social Science library or at any of the other libraries of the University of Helsinki.
