Content
This course explores racist and anti-racist discourses disseminated in various publications and sites in the Internet. The lectures will examine discourses of racism, anti-racism, multiculturalism, ethnicity and identity. Theoretical and methodological tools for critical qualitative text analysis are presented.
The students will analyse an empirical case of their choice. It can be for instance a racist site, anti-racist campaign, diasporic electronic media, internet discussion list, news, entertainment programme on television or a blog. The case is presented and discussed in the group. There will also be an exam at the end of the course.
