Objectives

The aim is to present the main lines of thought in contemporary philosophy as well as their development and relationship with each other.

Prerequisites

Kf110, Kf120, Kf140 and P7, Kf220 compulsory part.

Mode of assessment

Lecture courses and examination and/or a written report on a theme using sources agreed with the supervisor and/or book examination in a faculty examination

The lecture course or faculty examination can be supplemented by one or more of the following options c-f:

or

  • Moran D: Introduction to Phenomenology (if not completed earlier, 2 credits)

  • Salmela M: Suomalaisen kulttuurifilosofian vuosisata (3 credits)

  • Soames S: Philosophical Analysis in the Twentieth Century I: The Dawn of Analysis (2 credits)

f)

  • Soames S: Philosophical Analysis in the Twentieth Century II: The Age of Meaning (2 credits).
