Kf290 Bachelor’s Thesis

Code 71054

Scope cr 6

Objectives

The aim of the Bachelor's thesis is to familiarise students in independent research, methods of philosophy, argumentation, the use of source material and scientific writing.

Prerequisites

Seminars Kf280.

Mode of assessment

The thesis is an essay of 25-35 pages which is based on a seminar paper that has been previously approved (in seminar Kf282). Writing of the Bachelor's thesis is mainly independent work supported by seminars and study groups. The topic of the thesis and the working plan are discussed with the teacher during the seminars. During the writing of the thesis students should also regularly consult the thesis supervisor.

In principle, the thesis can be submitted to the Department at any time but the language revision should be already completed: The students are expected to submit the seminar paper or a short section from their Bachelor's thesis (10-15 pages) for language revision, before they can graduate, and this should be taken care of simultaneously with the participation to the seminar. The text (or so called practice essay) is to be sent in electronic format to the International Coordinator, who will forward it to the person in charge of the language check-up.
