Objectives

The study unit presents a relatively wide account of the history of philosophy, beginning with the pre Socratics and ending in the 20th century. In addition the student can concentrate on one main philosophical line of thought in the history of philosophy.

Prerequisites

Kf110 and Kf120.

Mode of assessment

Lecture courses with examinations, and/or a written report on a theme using sources agreed with the supervisor and/or book examination in faculty examination.

Compulsory part, 6 credits:

  • Kenny A: New History of Western Philosophy, volumes I-IV (Vol I: Ancient Philosophy; Vol II: Medieval Philosophy; Vol III: The Rise of Modern Philosophy; Vol IV: Philosophy in the Modern World). It is recommended that the books are taken in two separate faculty examinations (I & II and III & IV).
