Objectives

The aim is to present the main lines of thought in contemporary philosophy as well as their development and relationship with each other.

Prerequisites

Study units Kf110, Kf120, Kf140 and P7.

Mode of assessment

Lecture courses and examination and/or a written report on a theme using sources agreed with the supervisor and/or book examination in a faculty examination

Literature

Compulsory part, 5 credits. Complete both options a) and b):

a) Complete one of the following books:

  • Baldwin T: Contemporary Philosophy: Philosophy in English since 1945 (3 credits)
  • Niiniluoto I & Saarinen E (eds): Nykyajan filosofia (3 credits)

b) Complete one of the following books:

  • Kearney R: Modern Movements in European Philosophy (2 credits)
  • Moran D: Introduction to Phenomenology (2 credits).
