Content
The course will begin with the ethics of the "proto" existentialists, Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, and proceed through both religious and non-religious existentialists such as Heidegger, Sartre, Tillich, Bultmann, Marcel, Jaspers, etc., i.e., the major voices of existentialist philosophy. The main aim of our investigation will be to track their ethical thinking and presuppositions. The major issue we will face is the question, "Is there any such thing as an existentialist ethic?"
