The economics programme has two fields of specialization: general economics and econometrics. Studies in Economics for the Masterīs Degree specialising in econometrics include the following study units: advanced microeconomic theory (15 credits), advanced macroeconomic theory (15 credits),advanced econometrics (10 credits), elective studies (10 credits), advanced seminar (20 credits) and the Masterīs Thesis (40 credits). N.B. Statistical Foundations of Econometric Modelling (10 credits) is a compulsory study unit for students specialising in econometrics. Students are supposed to have a good knowledge of intermediate studies in statistics.Practical training (code 70430, 5 credits) can be included in the elective studies. Administrator of the department co-ordinates practical training and gives also further information.
N.B. Advanced Econometrics course (S3) will be made compulsory after two yearsī transition period 1.8.2010. If students have begun their studies before 1.8.2008, the course will be compulsory after the transition period. If students dont take this course (S3) in this case, they should take optional studies at least 20 credits.
