Lectures (40 h): 11.01.- 28.04.2010 on Mondays 12-14 and on Wednesdays 12-14, Place: PA-304 Museoluokka (HSE).
Exercises on Fridays at 10-12 starting on 15th of January. Exercises will be arranged separately for students of University of Helsinki and HSE students. Place for students of University of Helsinki: Economicum, seminar room 3-4, assistant: Doctoral student Ilpo Kauppinen.

Students from University of Helsinki register by filling out the registration form (available from the Department´s Office, Ms Päivi Leskinen, Arkadiankatu 7, 3rd floor) and returning it to the office of the department one week before the first lecture at the latest).

The course will be lectured jointly for students of the University of Helsinki and for students of Helsinki School of Economics. This course is only meant for major subject students of the department of Economics.Content
Lectures:The course will be lectured in English.
Modern theories of growth with an introduction to growth empirics are analyzed. The course also introduces basic theories of structural unemployment (efficiency wage and trade union theories) and analyzes modern theories of short run macroeconomic fluctuations and stabilization policy for both closed and open economies.

• Kuulustelujärjestyksen mukaiset tentit alkavat aina tasatunnein. • Tenttisali ilmoitetaan tenttipäivänä Kauppakorkeakoulun päärakennuksen (Runeberginkatu 14-16, Helsinki) ala-aulan ilmoitustaululla (ns. päivän ilmoitustaulu). • Kuulusteluun voi saapua korkeintaan 20 minuuttia sen alkamisesta eli 20 minuuttia yli tasan ja siitä saa poistua puoli tuntia sen aloittamisesta eli 30 minuuttia yli tasan. • Opiskelijan henkilöllisyys ja oikeus osallistua kuulusteluun tarkastetaan kuulustelusta poistuttaessa.
N.B.
All scheduled exams start on the hour. The classrooms are announced on the exam day at the bulletin board (“päivän ilmoitustaulu” in Finnish) which is located in the lobby of School of Economics ’s main building.
The student can come to the exam 20 minutes late at the most, that is 20 minutes after the hour and leave the exam no earlier than 30 minutes after the hour.
The identity of the student and the right to take the exam is checked when the student leaves the exam.
