The purpose of the course is to provide the main lines of Finnish church history from the time when Christianity was for the first time introduced in Finland and the church was established until the present time (approximately 1100-2000). The course includes twelve hours of lectures and an excursion to Turku, where many important places of Finnish church history are located. The lectures examine the characteristics of Finnish religious life and the relationship of the church to the state and Finnish culture.
