"Sexual and Gender Minorities at Work" conference in August 2002:

The Equal project "Sexual and Gender Minorities at Work" was launched with an eponymous conference organised in Helsinki on 23-24 August 2002. The conference was attended by some 90 people from different sectors of working life. The various lectures dealt with subjects ranging from sexual and gender diversity in working life, employment discrimination and related legislation, heteronormative and gendered workplace cultures, to the means of improving workplace practices. Lecturers included Professors Kari Pitkänen and Päivä Korvajärvi, the Director of Education of the Swedish Office of the Ombudsman against Discrimination because of Sexual Orientation Christine Gilljam, labour organisation representatives, Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate of Uusimaa representative Maarit Lehmussilta, as well as a number of Swedish and Dutch Equal Partners.
